Fatoş ERKMAN
Dr. Erkman is a graduate of Middle East Technical University (BS), The Saint Louis University (MS-Research in Clinical Psychology; Ph.D. in Clinical/Community Psychology) . Dr. Erkman worked as a psychologist during and after her graduate education in such health organizations as Saint Louis Glennon Hospital The Child Development Clinic, Saint Louis University, Center for the Application of Behavioral Sciences Clinical Division, and Malcolm Bliss Mental Health Center. She started her academic life at Middle East Technical University Psychology Department and has been a faculty member in Boğaziçi University since 1982. Presently she is one of the consultants to the President of Boğaziçi University as well as the Chairperson of The Educational Sciences Department. She has supervised 45 theses and has been in the committee of at least 25 theses . In addition to several administrative responsibilities she has taken at faculty and university levels, Dr Erkman has been the co-founder of the university student guidance and counseling center (BÜREM) and its chairperson between 1996 and 2001. She has also been the co-founder of the Boğaziçi University Peace Education Application and Research Center and the center’s chairperson since 2007. Dr. Erkman has been the co-founder of the initiative in İstanbul, organizing NGO’s and government organizations alike to act together to get The Children’s Rights Convention ratified in Turkey by the parliement, which was realized in 1993. Dr. Erkman is one of the founding members of the International Society of Interpersonal Acceptance and Rejection (ISIPAR) (2006) and has been the president between 2008 and 2013.
